Jeff Bezos (Founder and CEO of Amazon)
Short Story of How Amazon Kicked Off
I’m sure you’ve heard the fact that Amazon.com started in a very small space in the backyard. Bezos opened Amazon.com named after the South American river. His site was beta tested by his friends before it was open to the public.
A few employees started developing essential software’s with Bezos in his garage and gradually expanded operations into a 2-bedroom house. Initially, without even any kind of promotion, Amazon was able to sell books across the US and in 45 other countries within 30 days.
Amazon.com went public in 1997 which made many stock analysts joke around such a business that never had something physical in it. But as you know, the dot com bust proved to be lethal to many eCommerce stores.
However, Amazon kept sailing the high tides of the bust and was able to save itself from shutting down while many stores were actually shut down due to ongoing disturbances in the stock market.
At the end of 2018, Amazon announced that it was raising the minimum wage for its workers to $15 per hour. Let’s also not forget Jeff’s hyperactive approach in figuring out what needs to be done and what needs to be redone.
If ever you happen to read his book (the Everything Store) you will be amazed to know that he has fired people just because they didn’t come up with something that Jeff envisioned. He’s a man who doesn’t like to be flooded with reasons. If you have an idea, he will be pretty interested to discuss, but if you have reasons, he will be the most brutal boss you can ever experience in your professional career.
Everyone faces difficulties after starting up. He also faced difficulties but he never gave up. When Jeff started Amazon, he faced a lot of obstacles in his way, but he kept working harder and harder and today, Amazon is the world’s largest e-commerce chain. All the Quotes by Jeff Bezos also tell us that we should never give up and keep up with the hard work.
