While the cause of her death on Wednesday has not been disclosed, it comes after a series of concert cancellations... due to a nasal operation.
The singer had planned to return to the stage in December.
Costa made her name known in the 1960s as a key figure in the Tropicália,... a Brazilian artistic movement that merged both domestic and foreign traditions and
styles.
Born in 1945 in the Brazilian city of Salvador,... she released her first album, Domingo, in 1967.
The singer was given a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
