Republicans have not won the crushing victory they were expecting in US midterms

America's political future remains in the balance, as counting continues after the midterm congressional vote. There has been no so-called "red wave" as some polls forecast but Republicans are predicting they will have the votes to win control of the House of Representatives.

But in many seats, as well as the Senate, the tally remains too close to call. Michael Vincent reports
