Democrats in Florida ‘Have Serious Concerns About the Future of the Party in This State’

OQUENDO: “We are here inside of Ron DeSantis election headquarters in the Tampa Convention Center, this room is just ready to explode. And as joyous as everyone is here inside this room right now, they are feeling the exact opposite way on the Democratic side of the ticket right now. I spent the day talking to a few Democrats, let me just give you a couple of bullet points of what I was told. ‘The Democratic Party in Florida needs to clean house,’ ‘There has been a failure of leadership,’ and, ‘We are getting our butts kicked.’ They acknowledge how the Republicans are more disciplined, they show up to the polls, voter turnout very low on the Democratic side. They feel that they have dropped the ball here in the Sunshine State, especially on voter registration, and they have serious concerns about the future of the party in the state. Remember, Florida, it turned blue for Barack Obama twice, much different story right now in 2022.”
