Conquering LeConte (Grotto Falls & Bull Head) in October 2022

In the fall of 2022, my father and I hiked Mount LeConte - just minutes outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

We parked at Rainbow Falls parking lot, had my brother drop us off at Grotto Falls trailhead, climbed to Brushy Mountain, then up Trillium Gap to LeConte Lodge. After spending some time up there hydrating and recharging, we took in the views at the lookout and then descended the mountain using the Bull Head trail to the Rainbow Falls parking lot.

Only 16.5 miles and a little over 9 hours later we completed our second trip scaling this incredible mountain.

Two years ago, we did Alum Cave and Rainbow Falls - so only one trail left!
