Just to put things in perspective, I spent most of my childhood in a small town in Malaysia then I moved back to the Philippines to go to college. I was eager to start anew and despite being back in my own country, I still got "homesick"... because of the food. I guess that's just how much impact or influence food can give to people. Food can bring back memories; how weird or beautiful it looked, how it smelled or tasted, who you ate it with, that friend you had who always ate it every Friday. It's quite a powerful thing.
