Komodo National Park was created to protect the Komodo Dragon and its habitat, and to protect the region's terrestrial and marine biodiversity. It was selected as one of the "New Seven Wonders of Nature".

The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (quoted from unesco.org):
"These volcanic islands are home to about 5,700 giant lizards, whose appearance and aggressive behavior It is now called "Komodo Dragon". There are others in the world that are of great interest to scientists studying evolution. The steep slopes of the dry savannah and pockets of thorny green vegetation contrast starkly with the blue waters lapping against the sparkling white sands and corals. ”
