This 1-minute video clip was taken on September 20, 2017 at 7:35 am AST, from San Juan, Puerto Rico, around closest approach when hurricane Maria was 20 km due south of the city. The borderline category-4/5 cyclone hit the San Juan metro area with hurricane-force winds of 240 km/h of equivalent category-4. An extreme amount of rainfall was also experienced during this event, about 50 cm in twelve hours.
