The job options in Michigan were limited, so Earl Schroeder found a sense of place within the United States Air Force. Trained as a radar technician he was stationed around the States at various radar instillation as part of the Air Defense Command - a security bubble providing early warning of possible intruders, notable the feared Russians. He spent time in Thailand and finished his 8 years in North Bend, Oregon. Now an active member of the VFW and American Legion, Earl has taken up the responsibility of putting flags on display in Sisters, Oregon. The last 15 years he has taken the duty to heart and maintains a heartfelt love for flag and country.
