1 Samuel 13-14: War with the Philistines

In 1 Samuel 13-14, there is war with the Philistines and we are introduced the Jonathan, Saul's son, who attacks the garrison of the Philistines during a bold act of faith, as Saul reposes under the shade of a pomegranate tree. Saul also takes a foolish vow to kill anyone who eats before he vanquishes all his enemies and his son Jonathan is taken by lot.
