EU nations to go ahead with visits to Taiwan despite China's protests

Taiwan's standing as a lightning rod for diplomatic conflict with China is set to build, with European Union lawmakers ignoring Beijing's warnings. They have vowed to forge ahead with their planned visits to Taipei. European parliamentarians said plans to send a trade committee to Taiwan in December remain unaffected by the political storm. Chinese embassies in Europe have said visits to Taiwan are not acceptable. Beijing has also urged the international community not to follow the example of US Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to the island.
