Voters waited in line at a polling place in Chandler, a city in Arizona’s Maricopa County, on Tuesday, November 8, as officials reported approximately one fifth of machines across the county were not properly functioning. According to Bill Gates, Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman, “about 20 percent,” of the county’s voting locations were experiencing issues with their tabulators. Gates said that in places where the machines were not working, voters could place their ballots in a “secure box” where they would be kept until they could be tabulated later in the evening.
