Poland receives first shipments of K2 tanks and K9 self-propelled howitzers

South Korea has agreed to supply Poland with 288 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers,... in another major defense deal for Seoul.
The latest agreement comes as South Korea is set to deliver its first shipment of K2 tanks and K9 self-propelled howitzers to Poland,... just two months after inking that deal with Warsaw.

With both the South Korean and Polish flags hoisted,... this is the K2 tank that will be delivered to Warsaw,... just two months after a deal was signed with Poland in August.
Of the 180 units that Poland agreed to receive,... 10 tanks are set to be shipped first,... with the remaining 170 units expected to be delivered to Poland sequentially by 2025.

"We believe that this export of tanks to Poland has given us a foothold to advance more into the European market."

The K9 self-propelled howitzers,... which Poland also agreed to purchase,... with 24 of the 212 units ordered being readied for shipment.
Watchers say the quick delivery by South Korea led to another deal on Wednesday to purchase more weapons.
South Korea's Hanwha Defense on Wednesday signed a basic contract with Poland in Warsaw to supply 288 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers.
According to Seoul officials,... the two sides inked the "framework" deal to supply the K239 Chunmoo systems, starting next year,... with the contract known to be worth around six billion U.S. dollars.
Chunmoo,... meaning "covering the sky" in Korean,... has a maximum range of 80 kilometers,... and has been used as a key counter-artillery asset for South Korea to counter threats from North Korea's long-range artillery.
