After the release of the sourcebook, the game was followed by two expansion packs. In 2009, with the 1.50 patch for Battlefield 2, the two expansion packs became free content to be installed with the game's upgrade patch.
Battlefield 2: Euro Force, which added new EU forces and corresponding soldier models and vehicles, added new maps.
Battlefield 2: Armored Fury, also known as Nemesis, is set on American soil. New maps and two new loadouts, the Raider and the Recon helicopter, have been added.
