Belarus's president tells UK to "choke" on sanctions

Belarus's President Alexander Lukashenko declared that the UK can "choke" on sanctions, in a rare televised press conference.

The UK and US are tightening sanctions on Belarus, hitting economic sectors.

When asked by the BBC about the latest British measures, President Lukashenko said: "You can go choke on your sanctions... You are American lapdogs!"
