"CODA", a feel-good indie drama starring deaf actors in lead roles pulled off a remarkable late surge to emerge triumphant.
"Encanto", which centers a charmed family from Colombia, was named best animated feature.
But the 2022 Oscars will enter the history books for the shocking Will Smith-Chris Rock altercation in which Smith slapped Rock on stage for making a joke about his wife.
Smith was named best actor later that night for his role as a family-loving father and husband in "King Richard".
