Indonesia ready to host its first MotoGP in 25 years

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo welcomed MotoGP racers to the State Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 as Indonesia prepares to host its first MotoGP in 25 years at the Mandalika International Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday.

The President afterward sent off the racers to start the parade passing along Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat and ending at the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle.

Sunday’s race is the second stop on the 2022 MotoGP calendar after the opening race in Qatar two weeks ago.

MotoGP riders will take to the track on Friday for two practice sessions. On Saturday, there will be a final practice session and qualifying to decide pole position for the race.

The 4.3-kilometer track will witness the return of world-class motorcycle racing championships to the country.
