Jokowi cautions against identity politics in 2024 election

In his annual State Address on Tuesday, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo appealed to citizens to avoid identity politics, religious politics and social polarization as the 2024 elections neared.
He also asked for support from all state institutions to uphold democracy and reinforce the state ideology of Pancasila.
Jokowi said the country’s democracy had to become more mature and that national consolidation had to be strengthened.
