Bill Gates, now the largest private owner in US, adds 2,100 acres in North Dakota to his portfolio

Bill Gates and the likes of Warren Buffet may be getting old, but they know the future. Gates secured legal approval to add 2,100 acres of farmland for $13.5 Million to his nearly 270,000 acres of farmland across dozens of states. This is the same Gates that has a Smart City Plan for creating a new city across a 24,800 acre desert area in Phoenix Arizona.

State locals are not too happy about the transaction and understandably so as their way of life may soon change though not before the laws begin to favor private owners in states like this one. For now, Gates seems to be betting on the stability of farmland in turbulent times.

Do not fret! These opportunities don't just exist for the ultra-rich, they are present for the moderately rich as well through REITs.
