Haaland started his career at his hometown club Bryne FK in 2016, and moved to Molde FK the following year for two years. In January 2019, Austrian team Red Bull Salzburg signed him for five years. In the 2019–20 UEFA Champions League, he became the first teenager to score in five consecutive UEFA Champions League matches.On 29 December 2019, Håland completed a transfer to Borussia Dortmund for a reported fee of around €20 million.

After an impressive performance at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he won the Golden Boot, Håland made his debut for the Norwegian senior team in September 2019. In early July 2022, he officially joined Man City.
