Very rusty 1914 Mauser Impossible Restoration

Attempts to recover a German Mauser pistol from 1914 that we found while fishing for magnets in southern France (not on the battlefield).

Judging by his condition, he had been in the water for decades, probably since World War I or World War II.
The gun was too damaged to be properly restored, but we decided to preserve it by removing rust and protecting the metal for display in the display case.
