There are no plans for Singapore's criminal courts to use artificial intelligence (AI) in sentencing for now. Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon has cited how the use of AI tools in countries like the US and Malaysia has been criticised. For example, underlying algorithms are not transparent and offenders could face biases. He was speaking at a conference that aims to improve sentencing frameworks.
