A classic American pistol, the Kentucky was a must have for American Pioneers and early 19th Century Explorers. The Kentucky was made famous by the battle of New Orleans and favored by Davy Crockett. It was a favorite because of its one piece stock with superb balance and features like a birds head grip, fixed sight, case colored side lock and brass ramrod thimbles. One of the best ways possible to get a real hands-on muzzleloading experience is to build it yourself! And browning the barrel and getting rid of the legal warning writing feels right. I have found that 30 grains of 3f seems to be the sweet spot beyond 15 yards and 25 grains works for closer groups under that distance. There is no greater feeling of accomplishment than knowing you built the rifle or pistol you enjoy shooting so much!
