Aaron Guckian is a lifelong Rhode Islander. The son of a plumber and a respiratory therapist, Aaron grew up with a strong understanding of both the challenges working families face and the importance of giving back to the community.

Aaron is running for Lieutenant Governor because he knows that Rhode Islanders have been hard hit by the pandemic, skyrocketing gas prices, supply chain shortages and inflation. He believes that residents deserve to have an energetic, highly engaged lieutenant governor who will meet regularly with them, listen to their concerns, bring stakeholders together and respond with bold action.

Aaron will work tirelessly to fulfill the statutory responsibilities of the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. To that end, he will address the growing needs of small businesses, provide comprehensive, quality services to seniors and respond to emergencies quickly and effectively.

Throughout his extensive career, Aaron has gained valuable professional experience in the nonprofit sector, financial services and state government. For the past five years, Aaron has served as a development officer for the Rhode Island Foundation, the largest funder of nonprofit organizations in the state. In this capacity, he has been responsible for cultivating new prospects and strengthening relationships with current donors.

Aaron previously was a vice president at Bank Newport, an officer with The Washington Trust Company and a special assistant to former Governor Donald L. Carcieri.

During his eight years in the Office of the Rhode Island Governor, he gained knowledge about the complexities of state government and the challenges of emergency management including blizzards, floods and the Station Nightclub Fire. He also fostered and developed relationships with federal, state and local officials as well as business, nonprofit and community leaders. Aaron’s varied professional experience will enable him to hit the ground running on Day 1 as lieutenant governor of the State of Rhode Island.

A graduate of East Greenwich High School, Aaron holds a Bachelor of Arts in music and education from Connecticut College, a Master of Arts in music from Rhode Island College and a Master of Business Administration from Johnson and Wales University. Guckian is a 2019 East Greenwich High School Wall of Honor inductee. He is the former chairman of the Warwick Sewer Authority and served as a board member of the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce and World Trade Day at Bryant University.

He serves as a coach for the East Greenwich Basketball Association and the East Greenwich Soccer Association.

A person of great faith, Aaron is a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy. He lives in East Greenwich with his wife, Debbie, and their three children.
