Chocolate River Rafters

The Colorado River turned the color of milk chocolate on Friday thanks to heavy rains in nearby mountains.

The brown color was particularly vivid where it met the clear, colder waters of the Roaring Fork River in Glenwood Springs.

The muddy water did not deter rafters and anglers, who floated the snow-fed rivers through the resort town to cool off from hot temperatures.

"Colorado" comes from the Spanish phrase, "color rojo", which means "colored red".
