It is literally the result of a dream. I had to paint it as a way of getting it out of my head. Since I have some understanding of my own symbolism I will interpret it in this way. The Flaming Giraffe and Daddy Longlegs Elephant were creations of the great Surrealist Salvador Dali. I do not know what his intentions were with these creatures but they have the following meaning to me in this painting.
They are meant to be the reflection in the eye of what an innocent bystander is seeing. The Flaming Giraffe represents what is happening to all life on planet Earth. The Daddy Longlegs Elephant with the Obelisk on it's back represents Empire and all it stands for, which may be responsible for what is happening to all life on Earth.

The title "We Could be Heroes", which comes from a moving song by David Bowie that is not about saving the planet, but the music works for me. The statement that we could be heroes refers to the idea that humans can change the course of climate.
Maybe we can. Ultimately the Sun will grow to the point where we will all be toast regardless of what we do. It is best to not be here when that happens, but it's good to make an effort in the meantime.

The painting measures 24x36 inches and the finished size of the frame is 30x42.
