Reflet Disney Animation the first Disney short film highlighting an overweight heroine all new
The Disney animation studio recently unveiled one of its latest short films titled “Reflection” on its Disney+ streaming platform. A real gem of animation that has already won unanimous support from spectators, as evidenced by their enthusiasm on social networks.
This short film is a real breath of fresh air and breaks the usual codes of the American company. Indeed, it traces the story of Bianca, a young overweight ballet dancer who struggles daily to accept her body, but whose complexes resurface each time she crosses her reflection in the mirror while training. .
Defined as an ode to self-acceptance, Reflet advocates values and contemporary struggles such as body positivism and tackles deeper topics such as body dysmorphia, an obsessive-compulsive disorder pushing to focus only on an imaginary physical defect.
Through a childish character, the cartoon manages to go beyond beauty standards that create real barriers for little girls and invite them to love themselves and gain self-confidence without comparing themselves to others.
