SDN Purwotengah, Mojokerto City is where the First President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno studied as a child from 1907 to 1912. This elementary school was originally named SD "Ongko Loro" or Inlandcche School as a place for indigenous people to study. The proclaimer of Indonesian independence started from basic education at the "Ongko Loro" People's School from levels two to five. After that, he transferred him to the Europesche Lagere School (ELS) in order to get the qualification to continue his education to the next level. Some literature notes that Bung Karno's childhood was mostly in several areas in East Java, such as Surabaya, Ploso (Jombang Regency), Blitar, Tuluanggung, and Mojokerto. (*)
