BAIER: This last pitch by the president about threats to democracy in this environment, where do you think it stacks?

KRAUSHAAR: Yeah, well, Bret, there is a disconnect between what the public says that they are concerned about, the swing voters voters worried about the economy and worried about crime and quality of life issues and the president’s late pitch talking again, giving sort of a repeat of his Philadelphia speech about protecting democracy and, look, there is something of a paradox a little bit of a mixed message from the president and leading Democrats because they are claiming democracy is at risk in this election, but, they are sort of rejecting what they sees a a potential democratic outcome where voters are clearly expressing a preference for change and to put a check on the democratic control of power in Washington. So, you know, it’s not a very convincing message when you are almost rejecting what is looking like a Democratic outcome a week or so before the election.
