Salar Jung Museum Hyderabad
Salar Jung Museum is a historic art gallery of all the arts, craftsmanship, jewels, earthenware, floor coverings, materials, compositions, furniture from different parts of the world and all the gatherings were sourced from the property of Salar Jung’s family, situated in the Darushifa on the southern banks of Musi River in the city of Hyderabad.

It is the 3rd biggest National Museum in India and it is the lifetime glory of the Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan Bahadur Salar Jung-III, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, spent a liberal part of his salary for more than 35 years to build this monumental gathering. The collections that were abandoned in his royal residence, Dewan Devdi were later displayed in a private exhibition initiated by Jawaharlal Nehru in 1951.

There was a saying that the present gatherings are just 50% of the first craftsmanship during his time and most of the art pieces, jewels were lost and stolen during the movement of exhibition hall from Derwan Devdi to the present site in 1968 which is regulated now by the Government under the Salar Jung Museum Act, 1961.

A must visit place for the history lovers, the museum has collections from around the globe. The major attraction is the mechanical clock where the bell strikes every hour. The museum is huge to cover, its spread across 3 buildings of 2 floors each.

One of the three National Museums in the country, this place of heritage is a must-visit in Hyderabad. The location of the museum is on the River Musi, which also makes it an interesting place to visit. The museum is dedicated to ancient arts and houses paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, carvings, artifacts, and more, not only from all over India but from different parts of the world.

This famous three storied museum is very popular in Hyderabad and makes it to every tourist's list. I personally do not care much for museums, but if you are interested in a repository of the artistic achievements of diverse European, Asian and Far Eastern countries of the world, you must visit this place.
