Hydrangea care tip! Do you love blue hydrangeas? Shirley Bovshow shares a key tip to change pink hydrangea flowers to blue hydrangeas (or purple hydrangea flowers)! It's easy to change hydrangea flower colors by lowering the soil PH level in the ground or in a container. I recommend using a soil amendments that acts as a soil acidifier, (one that doesn't have aluminum sulfites). When the soil is acidic (pH 5.5 or lower), aluminum is more available to the roots, resulting in blue flowers.

If you are growing hydrangeas in containers it's even easier to change the soil ph by adding an acidifying soil amendment. Watch this easy-to-understand gardening video with Shirley Bovshow, one of the most beloved gardening teachers on YOUTUBE!
