Tom Barrack and his former assistant, Matthew Grimes, are on trial for being accused of acting as a secret back-channel for the United Arab Emirates. They each face one count of acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign government and one count of conspiracy to act as an unregistered agent of a foreign government. Barrack also faces one count of obstruction of justice and four counts of making false statements. On Monday, a U.S. district judge hinted that he was considering dropping some counts against Barrack. But ultimately, the federal judge is allowing all charges to stand against the former advisor to Donald Trump, and the case may soon go to a jury.
