Banning Tik-Tok SHOULD be considered a violation of free speech, but is it.
Let me refer you quickly to the 4th amendment protection that you should be secure in your person, property, and papers. The mere existence of the IRS is a gross violation of the 4th amendment. That said, as much as I want to be a 4th amendment absolutist the fact is that it also creates a vulnerability by protecting bad actors and this has been exploited by our enemies. Before you get to uptight about what I just said, the intentional abuse and perversion of the use of the 4th amendment currently enables terrorists (of which there are far fewer as a result of the Trump presidency) but also, and much worse, human traffickers.
Now back to free speech.
The problem with the free speech argument is this. While we are making that argument the enemy has started abusing that as well. They are engaged in censorship with the direct involvement of the US government. This brings us to Tik-Tok.
The CCP is actively using TikTok to do two primary things. They are using it to collect important data on US citizens… and this is the least of the concerns.
The other piece of this is that the CCP is actively using TikTok to simultaneously craft narrative and spread dangerous counter-factual disinformation in service of things like the social contagion known as transgenderism.
