Governor Punjab refuses to sign 4 bills approved by Punjab Assembly

Governor Punjab has refused to sign 4 bills approved by Punjab Provincial Assembly after raising objections. The Governor used his powers under Article 116 of the Constitution and returned the bills to the Assembly suggesting amendments.

The bills which have been returned by the Governor include Punjab Ministers' Salaries, Allowances & Privileges Bill 2022, Punjab Ehsas Programme Bill 2022, Punjab Local Government Bill 2021 and Urdu Language Act.

Regarding Punjab Ministers' Salaries, Allowances and Privileges Bill 2022, the Governor raised objection that it would incur burden on the financial kitty. Reportedly, the Governor's objection to this bill has been well received by the general public.
