Gary Davis - the Daredevil's Stuntman - 1976

Evel Knievel's stunt double - yes, you read it right - was Gary Davis. "Viva Knievel" was a thrillshow brought to the silver screen, starring the crime-fighting King of Daredevils himself. Under the helmet and cape, though, was Gary Davis, an aspiring stuntman. Mr. Davis got as much action as the movie producers could dream up -- involving cliffsides, tigers, lions, and roaring flames. Here he talks with museum founder Lathan McKay about the adventures of America's bicentennial year. In this video, Mr. Davis is reunited with one of his functional costumes from the set. He recollects the filming and relationship with Evel Knievel.
