Cute Gibbons Playing & Climbing

Any of the roughly 20 species of tiny apes known as gibbons are found in Southeast Asia's tropical forests. A human-like build and the absence of a tail distinguish gibbons from the other great apes (gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees, and bonobos), but gibbons lack higher cognitive functions and self-awareness. They also have larger arms, thicker hair, and a neck pouch that amplifies sound, which set them apart from big apes. Gibbon vocals are strong, have a melodious tone, and travel far. The most recognisable vocalisation is the "great call," which is typically a duet in which the female sings the lead note and the male chimes in with a note that is less complex. Both sexes use this cry to indicate their territory.
