Know your food!
Did you know that the chicken you buy at the store has gone through THREE bleach treatments? Or that it only takes between 5 to 6 weeks to fully grow out a commercially raised chicken? Wrap your mind around that fact. They are fed so much that they gain 1lb per week, and grow so fast that either their legs break or they suffer heart attacks. All because we are part of a demanding society that wants what they want when they want it.
We think there is a better way. A more ethical, honest, and natural way to raise chickens for meat. Yes, it takes longer. Yes, it is more expensive. Yes, it is only viable on a smaller scale. But, so what?! If only 10% of our population raised chickens this way, we could be feeding entire communities without "supply chain issues" or "re-stocking issues" that stores are claiming currently.
So get to know your local crazy chicken lady; I guarantee there is one close to you. Find that local farmer who is grass raising all of his meat and stays away from pesticides and herbicides on his farm. Drive an hour if you have to. Are you not worth it? Is your family not worth it?
