Dracula's Date With Elvira

Dracula and I had a dark moon date.
I knew I dare not be a minute late,
for far too soon we’d witness dawn’s first light,
which would end our graveyard tryst in the night.

What shall happen in the bright morning sun?
Dear Drac says it’s absolutely no fun!
What kind of freak am I going out with?
I’ve heard rumors he’s an October myth.

What was that flapping of wings heard outside?
Did my date just now arrive on the glide?
It’s time for the Halloween Eve Ghoul’s dance.
I’m told, be sharp, he’ll put you in a trance.

At the dance was a serve yourself buffet--
plates of bones, eyeballs in beans on a tray
With sanguine stew full of hearts and liver.
Dreads! After feast would I be Drac’s giver?

In the mirror I look, what do I see?
No washed-out green ghoul; it’s a brand new me.
Alabaster skin, I’m pretty, oh my--
I don’t know if I should scream, or just sigh.

Drac says, “Don’t worry my dear, you’re now mine.
Only you as I slurp your blood divine.
There’s just one thing of which I must now warn,
Make sure you are never outside at morn!”

Inspired by the hit song, "Elvira".
