In this video, we ask the question: Where do we draw the line? Is it art or is it something entirely different? Where has Shock Rock taken us?

Music To Die For - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy

I have an extremely controversial question for all of you.

At what point does our freedom of expression in artistry or freedom of speech cross the line?

This is going to be a very controversial subject, and I'm not convinced there is a one-size-fits-all answer.

When a reader becomes so enveloped in William Shakespeare's tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and may even have a propensity towards depression or suicidal tendencies, do we blame William Shakespeare if this person takes their life?

I deliberately chose such a well-accepted literary, poetic piece of art such as Romeo and Juliet to start the conversation so as to not bias this discussion on either side.

Over the years, many rock bands have been blamed for killings and suicides directly related to their lyrics (not sure why this hasn't been translated across into the Jason Halloween films or even Dracula movies for that matter, but nonetheless it seems to be targeted at rock bands).

But I also don't think it's responsible to completely exonerate promoting something that could heavily influence and even spellbindingly entice people to do horrific, evil things (and yes, everyone's mental stability is different and will react accordingly).

In this video, released on Halloween deliberately, I attempt to address this subject for all to weigh in on and share their thoughts, comments, and experiences on this grizzly subject.

At what point have we crossed the line with our artistry justifying gross irresponsibility, sensationalism, shock value, one-upmanship in attention-getting and so forth?

What are your thoughts and comments on this?
