What's the difference between a Recession, Depression, and Stagflation?

In this video, We will explain what each of these economic terms means, how they're different from one another, and how they can be used to describe our current economic situation.

Economic recessions are periods in which the economy is slowing down or contracting.
A Depression is an extremely severe recession that lasts for years with no signs of recovery on the horizon.
Stagflation is an economic situation in which inflation is high and unemployment is high at the same time.

There have been three major economic recessions in U.S. history: the Great Depression of 1929-1933; The Great Recession of 2008-2009.

The US economy has been going through some tough times. We've seen the stock market crash, we've seen the housing market crash, and we've seen our unemployment numbers rise. But what do all these things have in common?
They're part of a larger economic cycle called the business cycle, which is defined by four phases: expansion, peak, contraction, and trough.

But how does it compare to other recessions?
How does it compare to depression?
And how does it compare to stagflation? The answer is… it depends. In this video, we'll give you some facts about these different terms so you can recognize them when they come up in conversation or on your newsfeed!
