All meaning we can create can either support us to lead us outside of ignorance, or deepen us in ignorance. And to this, it all depends what side of pain one chooses to be. And how much meaning they choose to give it. Once an attachment is made, that becomes the comfort zone, since one's intellect will fight to desperately support it. It's the only thing it knows.
