People parade across Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo on Saturday, October 29, to celebrate the upcoming Halloween holiday, marked each year on October 31.

Watched by millions, Halloween in Shibuya has become famous around the world. The event is an unregulated meetup of Halloween lovers across Japan, attracting thousands of masked participants.

Authorities have tried to cut down on the event in the same way as in previous years, by banning street drinking, not allowing convenience stores in the area to sell alcohol, and keeping the roads closed to pedestrians.
