The Left Should Stop Being Cruel... Unlisted Video

Ableist is the new “ist” word this week. It turns out that you’re a horrible person if you want people to be competent in their job.

For all of those who came to Fetterman’s defense this past week, I bet that not one of them would hire him to be a personal spokesman. Or would hire him to represent them in court, or in a negotiation.

But that’s exactly what a Senator should do. A Senator is, in theory, a spokesperson for the State they represent. A Senator spends hours in exhausting, word-twisting negotiations to craft legislation.

So, I guess, wanting someone who is capable of doing that job makes me what I’ll call a Capableist. I expect that whoever is hired to represent the people is capable of doing the job.

I can have sympathy for those who have diminished skills. After all, one day, that might be me. But it’s cruel to put someone into a job that is beyond their capabilities. I wouldn’t want someone to expect me to spend hours in intense communication to arrive at consensus – or fight bad legislation – after I had a stroke that greatly limited my ability to communicate.

They tell us that the disabled deserve representation, too. Of course, they do. They deserve to be represented by someone capable of representing them with clear communication.

If you disagree with me, then I suggest that you should hire Fetterman as a negotiator or spokesman, who will likely be unemployed after his stint as Lt. Gov. of Pennsylvania. After all, if it’s loving to hire the disabled into jobs they can't perform, then you should put your money where your mouth is.
