Corey Thompson got laid off from work in 2015. Living in an RV with this two-year-old daughter, he did what only a man like him would do. He refused to dwell on his problems and took matters into his own hands.

Without any formal education, who’d know that grabbing a real estate opportunity would kickstart his career?

In the interview, he shares his early real estate beginnings, from stealing internet from a laundry shop to sending handwritten letters. Now the proud owner of Roughneck 2 Real Estate, Corey now owns 200+ houses among other business ventures that allowed him to achieve financial freedom.

Quotes -

“I don’t really have that kind of mindset. I don’t really think about those kinds of things. We lost 20 grand on a flip very early on. [...] Any hard lesson that I learn is the one that sticks.”

“There were no obstacles. It wasn’t hard to find or buy real estate. It was everywhere–Craigslist was there; you got Facebook marketplace. So [it’s] very easy to get ahold of real estate back then. The money was a bit more of a challenge, I guess. But now, money’s not the issue. It’s the inventory.”

“You go broke–you figure out the next step. We figured out how to borrow money.”

“I’m gonna do whatever makes money whatever market I’m in.”

“We’re all about you guys and trying to provide value to the audience.”

“Our other big thing is about creating freedom and purpose for people. So essentially–what’s the fastest way of taking the income you’re making, whether it’s real estate or not, and creating passive income that allows you to do whatever you want for the rest of your life.”

“Helping people is one of the most fulfilling things in the world–number one. And number two, meeting awesome people like you. This is a totally awesome way to network. And I’m learning a lot from people who’ve done exactly what I want to do.”

“Tenacity, right? It’s stuff that’s missing in this generation. When you’re pursuing something bigger, eventually they’re gonna be like, “Dang. These guys really earned it.”
