Don’t condition your hair after a nuclear attack

If you are covered with any dust or debris after a nuclear attack and are downwind of the explosion, you may have radioactive particles on your body. Don't panic! The particles can be washed away. Take a shower immediately, but don't use conditioner on your hair.

You hair has overlapping folds - almost like a pine cone or fish scales. Conditioner makes your hair shiny by flattening out those scales, but it can also trap radioactive particles in your hair under those scales, or get them stuck in the oils of the conditioner.
