Greg and I are both empathetic, loving souls doing the inner, reflective work to make sense of the challenges on our life journeys. It is validating to connect with others who seem to "get it" and, even without knowing every little detail, can understand and relate to others' challenges. As caring, compassionate people who have experienced familial traumas, we have been Gaslit to question our worth and abilities and often take on responsibility for things that are not our doing. We must grieve the losses we have experienced while continuing to take the high road in our responses. It's important to step back and look at the big picture, acknowledging our role when appropriate and accepting others' influence that we have no control over. There is so much hope to live our best lives. We must follow our gut intuition, research what we are dealing with, and take the time to self-reflect and do the inner trauma work to make adjustments to stay honest and trustworthy to our integrity and values.
