Heavy equipment dismantled

Heavy equipment dismantled the Latvian part of the Friendship Mound on the border of Latvia, Russia and Belarus. This was announced by the vice-speaker of the Pskov Regional Assembly Armen Mnatsakanyan: "Memorial plates were torn out using heavy equipment." The Latvian authorities did not explain their actions in any way.

■ The monument was erected in 1959 as a symbol of the struggle of Russian, Belarusian and Latvian partisans during the Great Patriotic War.
