Lightyear bombs at the box office with one of Disney Pixar's most humiliating opening weekends ever. The Pixar brand appears to be on its last leg at the dominant force in animated and children's entertainment.

This box office fail was predicted months ago right here on Valliant Renegade and reaffirmed last week with WDW PRO and ThatParkPlace.com

Pixar clearly set up Lightyear as a Pride Month celebration movie from the early planning stages. Then, following a very public fight over Florida HB 1557 (The Parental Rights In Education Bill - erroneously referred to as the Don't Say Gay Bill), Disney execs were forced down an untenable path, especially after videos from the now famous Reimagine Tomorrow program leaked with Disney creative executives discussing "Not so secret gay agendas" for children's entertainment and this right in the middle of Drag Queen ( trans stripper ) shows being coordinated in schools across America.

Recasting the titular character to Chris Evans instead of Tim Allen likely didn't help either, especially after Chris Evans once again stuck his foot in his mouth and called American parents "Idiots" in a public interview for not wanting to deliberately introduce young children to LGBTQ issues in this film.

It could be argued at this point that perhaps Bob Chapek and Kareem Daniel allowed this dumpster-fire to happen in order to gain the political capital to start cleaning house especially after Peter Rice was recently fired in humiliating fashion by the embattled Disney CEO (Bob Chapek)

If only folks like John Lassiter were still with Pixar, maybe there would still be some magic left, but as it stands, there isn't. Pixar can not continue to burn money at this pace to the tune of $200M per movie and expect to survive.
