I sued him because he had smeared us. And when we asked him to correct the record, he threatened us with a lawsuit.
So we moved first.
"Disinformation" is Trudeau's newest tactic to censor his opponents. Trudeau's disinformation czar, a University of Calgary professor named Jean-Christophe Boucher, claimed that Rebel News were Russian agents and amongst the worst misinformation publishers in Canada.
That's simply not true. And when we tried to correct the record, he had the University of Calgary's lawyer send me a legal notice of intention to bring a lawsuit against us, just for making a video rebutting his smears.

I made a short video about what we did next, because this is a real David vs. Goliath fight and I need your help.
Boucher is a real piece of work — you can see why Trudeau gives him massive government grants. And one of the things Boucher did with those grants was publish a study smearing Trudeau's critics as Russian agents.
People like Maxime Bernier and National Post columnist Rupa Subramanya.
They're not Russian spies. They're just people who criticize Trudeau. So Boucher smears them as foreign agents.
What's so crazy is that if you look at Boucher's "study" — which wasn't peer-reviewed by the way — you'll see he just makes it up. He actually says that one of the ways to tell if someone is a Russian agent is if they promote "mistrust of Canada's Liberal government, and especially of Prime Minister Trudeau". Seriously.
But distrusting Trudeau doesn't make you a Russian agent. It makes you one of 68% of Canadians who exercised our political freedom to vote for someone other than Trudeau.
I read Boucher's study, and he actually has a "top ten list" of Canada's worst Russian agents. Rebel News isn't even on his list, but for some reason Boucher went on CTV to tell them Rebel News was one of the worst spreaders of misinformation in Canada.
But even his own study didn't show that.
The guy just throws mud at Trudeau's enemies — and he gets handsomely paid for it.
And when we asked him to correct his smears, his response was to send us a legal threat.
Well, Boucher will get his wish — because we'll see him in court. But he'll be the one answering the questions.
If you can help me, please do. Boucher has massive government grants and he's using the University of Calgary's lawyer (which is weird isn't it?) We don't take any money from Trudeau, and never will. So that's why I need your help.
