On January 22nd, 1973 the United States Supreme Court overturned state laws banning abortion in the case of Roe V. Wade. The woman who brought the case to court was Norma McCorvey and according to one source she was "paid $16,250 by local attorneys for stories and interviews about her experiences" (i). Also she had no children and was deemed an "unsuccessful mother." However, her beliefs changed during the process of bringing her case to the Supreme Court when she gave birth to her son, whom she allowed a relative to adopt out and not aborted because of some complications with the birth. Roe vs wade marked the end of femenism which started with Margaret Sanger a feminist who believed that all children should be killed before they are born.(i) She started Planned Parenthood which is a group that pushed abortion and believes that women shouldn't have any more kids than they already do and abort them even after birth if it's too hard for them to raise.(i) Sanger said "Birth control must lead ultimately to a clearing up of our social problems...The most urgent problem today is how to limit and discourage the over-fertility of the mentally and physically defective."(ii)
